Man found guilty in burglary trial

Rodrick Dale Sloan, 29, was convicted by a jury of Burglary of Habitation on June 22 in 392nd District Court in front of Judge Scott McKee.
Sloan is set for sentencing on August 2, 2021.
On January 14, 2019, Henderson County Sheriff's Deputy Matthew Reschke was dispatched to UT Health Athens Emergency Room in reference to an assault. The victim reported that the defendant kicked in the front door and later assaulted her by striking her in the face with a closed fist.
Over the course of the trial, the jury heard from the victim, the homeowner, and Deputy Reschke.
"I am proud of my staff's work on this case," said District Attorney Jenny Palmer. "Assistant DAs Ken Strawn and Laura Carpenter did an excellent job in getting this guilty verdict."
