Henderson County Juvenile Probation Officers Praised for Classroom Contribution

Two Henderson County juvenile probation officers spoke to a criminal justice class at the University of Texas at Tyler recently. Officers Charles "Trynten" Parker and Sean Graham visited the class on Thursday, Nov. 7, to explain how family violence concepts apply within the juvenile probation system.
The officers explained the challenges they face and how they help both victims and offenders. They offered a practical perspective on juvenile justice.
Henderson County Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Blu Nicholson said, "It is always an honor for our Juvenile Probation Officers to be invited to speak to students who aspire to be Criminal Justice professionals."
"I am very proud of JPO Parker and JPO Graham for going above their regular job responsibilities," he said. "Anytime we are given an opportunity to speak to students, the Department will be willing to do so.
In a letter to Nicholson, Dr. Richard C. Helfers, chair of the Department of Social Sciences, commended Officers Parker and Graham.
"I truly appreciate the time Officers Parker and Graham took out of their day to help the students learn about family violence within the context of juvenile probation," he wrote. "They were an excellent reflection on the professionalism of the Henderson County Juvenile Probation Department."
