Dr. John Schnell Sworn In as County Health Authority

Dr. John Schnell was sworn in Friday as Henderson County’s new Health Authority during a short ceremony in County Judge Wade McKinney’s courtroom, surrounded by friends and family. The position, which has been unfilled for several years, plays a key role in the county’s public health system.
As Health Authority, Dr. Schnell will coordinate with local and state officials on issues like disease prevention, sanitation, and public health emergencies.
“This position is one of those you don’t hear about until you really need it,” said Judge McKinney. “Having a qualified local doctor in place helps us respond faster and smarter when it comes to protecting the health of our residents.”
Health Authorities in Texas are appointed for two-year terms and serve as a vital link between local communities and the state in matters of public health.
